In his recent book, THE HERMENEUTICS OF THE APOSTOLIC PROCLAMATION, Pauline scholar Matthew Bates notes that ancient reading styles welcomed and embraced a much more expansive and a fluid dynamic in interpreting the text than do modern reading styles.
